The Work

This artwork depicts two apples — a red apple and a green apple —. It replaced a previous apple-themed artwork I had purchased in Mexico, which still carried memories connected to my past. Both are apples, so it feels a little funny and serendipitous, but the new piece felt fresh and joyful.

Provenance

I purchased this piece from an Impress Printmakers exhibition in Brisbane, likely around 2013–2014, not long after opening ARTIS PURA. Like many framers, I collected the work and it sat in a drawer for many years before I finally got around to framing it. When I did, it felt wonderful to see it come to life and take its place in the home.

Framing

The artwork is framed in a simple Australian oak frame stained black, with an eight-ply mount and UltraView conservation glass. The framing protects the print and gives it a clean, modern aesthetic that complements the subject matter and fits cohesively with the other apple-themed works in the space.
