Provenance

I purchased this linocut as part of a small collection I found on Facebook Marketplace. I was immediately drawn to its charm and craftsmanship and felt it was essential to add to my collection of Thorpe’s work.

Framing

This piece is framed in a Graham Reynolds 23-carat gold frame, which I acquired when Graham was downsizing and semi-retiring. The artwork is coupled with a thick linen mount that has delicate gold line inlays, enhancing the piece’s elegance. The framing was chosen to highlight the artwork.

About John Hall Thorpe

John Hall Thorpe was an Australian-born artist renowned for his decorative colour woodcuts of flowers, fruit, and landscapes. Born in Sandridge, Victoria, in 1874, he began his career as a wood engraver in Sydney before moving to London in 1902. There, he achieved considerable success with his vibrant prints, bridging fine art and decorative appeal.
